Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve

4-star visitor attraction award  Green Tourism Business Gold Award

Corra Linn, Falls of Clyde © Andy Reynolds Our Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve has been awarded National Nature Reserve status by Scottish Natural Heritage and also a gold award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

Find out what is happening on the reserve with our reserve diary.

Located near the World Heritage village of New Lanark, the reserve covers 59 hectares, has woodland along the River Clyde gorge and four spectacular waterfalls. Warblers, tits and wrens enjoy the woodland and numerous wildflowers, fungi and invertebrates can be seen. Peregrine falcons, tawny owls and sparrowhawks rule the air. Badgers, foxes and roe deer can be seen and the river is home to otters, dippers, herons and kingfishers. The gorge also features Corra Castle, a fifteenth century castle, and The Hall of Mirrors.

Facilities

Interior of new visitor centre Our newly refurbished visitor centre includes interactive interpretation highlighting the key species on the reserve: badgers, bats and peregrines.

The exhibition includes superb, close up footage of Falls of Clyde wildlife including the peregrines in their eyrie, New to the display is the Honey Bee Hotel, a honeybee observation hive which houses a colony of over 15,000 bees building their intricate honeycomb right before your eyes.

A new CCTV link brings live action from the reserve into the visitor centre. The visitor centre has toilets for disabled visitors and is fully accessible.
