Tailend Moss is a raised peat bog, supporting plants such as heather, sphagnum moss and cottongrass with scattered sundew, bog asphodel and cranberry. Tailend Moss is designated a SSSI for its Raised Bog habitat.
Best time to visit:
- June to August for dragonflies, damselflies and moths
- October to March for wildfowl

From the parking place walk along the disused road, at the end of which a path leads off right and into the reserve. - Directions
Take the M8 from Edinburgh until Jct 3a, at the roundabout go straight on (A779 to Livingston), in 200m there is a parking place on the left on a section of closed road by a metal barrier. Tailend Moss can be seen to the north.
