Saturday 23th January: - Discover the Glen’s secrets
Join us to discover Glen Nevis and learn more about the creatures that inhabit the Glen. Make some yummy food for our feathered friends and see how well you would survive a cold winter. Warm up with some hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Time 10.30 – 12.30
20th February: Explore the amazing wildlife of the glen.
Explore the amazing animals which make the glen their home and try your hand at some practical conservation tasks such as scrub clearance or making animal homes. Warm up afterwards with some hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Time 10.30 – 2.30
Saturday 13th March: - Meet the ancestors
Discover more about the Glen’s former inhabitants, from hunter gathers to Jacobite soldiers and their relationship with the glen’s wildlife. Try your hand at some of the skills needed to survive in the days when wolves ruled the glen and finish the day by making your own lunch round the fire. Time 10.30-2.30
Saturday 17th April: - Spring crafts and things.
Come along and try your hand at some spring crafts, look for signs of nesting and make your very own chocolate nest to take home. Time: -10.30 – 12.30
Saturday 8th May: - How clean is the Glen
Come along and help to clean up Glen Nevis. Make a recycled model to take home.
Time 10.30 – 2.30
Sunday 23rd May: - International Biodiversity Day
Come along and help and learn how to make animals boxes for birds, bats and minibeasts.
Time 10.30 – 3.30 (Bring your parents and come for the whole day or just a few hours)
Saturday 19th June: - Water and fire.
Find out what lives in the water around Glen Nevis. Wellies essential as you will get wet!
Then share your experience of being a member of the Watch group with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows round the fire. Complete the John Muir Award and receive your certificate if you have attended all the events. Time 10.30 – 1.00
Glen Nevis Junior Rangers is open to children aged 5-12, although those under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Booking for all events is essential and group membership of the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Wildlife Watch is included in the cost, £3, allowing children to work on the Starlet and Gold Awards. We will also be working on the John Muir Awards.
