BBC Breathing Places
BBC Breathing Places has some brilliant ideas for rolling up your sleeves and making your very own place for nature – right on your doorstep.
You don't need a lot of space or time, just get outside with your kids, friends, family, neighbours or on your own, and have fun sharing a space with nature.
A Breathing Place gives you time out. It's never boring, and if you're good to nature then nature will be good for you.
So where’s your Breathing Place going to be?
Turn your school into a wildlife haven
Who can apply for BIG Lottery funding?
- A not-for-profit group, parish or town council, school or health body
- You must have a bank account that requires at least two signatories
- You must use the grant within one year
£500 to £10,000 is available to create, maintain or improve your Breathing Place
Awards for All Scotland fund a wide range of projects and activities for example:
- creating a wildlife garden
- small improvements to your group's premises
- helping your neighbourhood group to set up a new service in your community
- bringing in professionals to work with voluntary groups
- carrying out simple works to allow more people to enjoy their local heritage
