Marine Protected Areas

Less than 0.001% of our seas are protected from damaging activities and the current site protection system is inadequate.

SWT supports a two-tier system of marine protected areas:

Nationally important marine sites, larger areas where a range of human activities can occur;
Highly protected marine reserves where no damaging activities are allowed.
