Conservation Teams
The Scottish Wildlife Trust's Conservation Teams have provided free work experience and training in countryside construction and woodland skills to the unemployed for over 20 years.
Participants are generally interested in working outdoors in the conservation sector, but the skills acquired are also applicable to different areas such as forestry and landscape gardening.
Formal training is certificated by Lantra, tools and equipment are provided, including personal protective equipment, and transport to and from worksites is also available.
Typical projects include boundary work (drystane dyking, fencing), access work (paths, bridges, steps), habitat management and creation (tree planting, meadow cutting) and much, much more.
Considerable knowledge and experience built over the years in planning and undertaking projects has also allowed us to extend our operations from our own reserves to the field of conservation contracts. Our projects are diverse, our clients vary and we offer good value for money.
The teams are located throughout the Central Belt, Tayside, Dumfries & Galloway and the Scottish Borders. They operate in these areas and beyond.
